In just a few weeks, when the snow melts, a time will come for the spring cleaning. Many of us will clean the windows and organize the terrace space. This is the perfect time to spend some time taking care of the window covers. Check out our advice on how to start cleaning the screens.
Proper care for screening systems has a positive effect not only on their appearance, but also increases the likelihood of many years of trouble-free operation. Screens, like any other window covers, require cleaning. How to do it and not damage the covers? Here are some tips.
1.Start with the fabric. The largest surface is taken by the fabric, and therefore – it is the area where the most dirt accumulates. Screen fabrics are impregnated in a special way, which reduces the permanent accumulation of dirt, but it is worth cleaning the fabric from dust from time to time. For this purpose, you can use a soft, dry cloth that will collect the dust layer, and then wipe the entire fabric with a wet cloth with a mild detergent.
2. Remember to dry the fabric. It is not recommended to roll up the wet cover, as it may damage the engine or the appearance of fungus on the surface of the fabric. It is worth leaving the wet fabric to dry.
Clean construction elements. Dust settles on all surfaces – not just fabric. Therefore, when you start cleaning, you must not forget about the box or the guides – they also require cleaning. To remove dust, simply wipe them with a dry cloth.
3. Clean only when the temperature is above zero. Freezing water could damage the cover, so don’t clean when the mercury columns drop below 0.
4. Be careful. Some preparations or devices may permanently damage the cover, therefore, when cleaning it, follow certain rules. It is strictly forbidden to use bleach, solvents or scouring agents. Avoid sharp tools and pressure washers.
Cleaning the screen is not a complicated activity. It is worth knowing a few tips that will facilitate the process and allow you to do it in a safe way for the cover.
